History

In The Orchard Primary School our aim is that all our pupils develop into confident, mature and enthusiastic ‘historical detectives’ who are able to apply their history skills across all subjects. In order to nurture and grow as historians we want all our pupils to have a solid understanding of all elements of history. 

They should be able to have a solid grasp of chronology and be able to link their understanding of key events, individuals, eras and civilisations across time. 

We believe that pupils’ fascination and curiosity within history is engendered through development of critical thinking, precise questioning and the evaluation of range of resources in order to determine and develop their understanding of the past.
